Bio
Simon Dumont owns nine Winter X Games medals. He has a signature Oakley apparel and goggle series. He is one of the most recognized freeskiers featured in videos and documentaries of all kinds. His resume even boasts a Guinness World Record. Simon Dumont is hands-down one of the greatest athletes in the freeski game.
Already a fiery competitor, Dumont sat out most of the 2011/2012 winter season with a devastating ACL injury. Following a successful surgery to repair his damaged knee, Dumont is more determined than ever to make a comeback unlike anything ever seen.
Dumont’s return comes at a good time as it was recently announced that 2014 will see the inclusion of the ski halfpipe event in the Winter Olympic Games. He has become the face of US Freeskiing, the newest arm of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. All eyes will be on Dumont, and the sport couldn’t have a more worthy ambassador. He will lead Team USA into Sochi, Russia and attempt to add an Olympic gold medal to his already impressive resume.
Outside of the halfpipe, Dumont is one of the most generous, crowd-pleasing figures in actions sports. Since 2009, he has hosted a pro-am event at Sunday River Ski Resort in his hometown of Bethel, Maine. The contest, a now platinum event on the AFP tour, allows for young riders to become exposed to some of the best skiers, agents and sponsors in the industry. It is credited as an event that has given many of today’s best freeskiers a name in the sport they love. Not only does Dumont host the event, he can be found emceeing, entertaining participants and friends for dinner at his parents house and signing autographs for adoring fans.
Say what you want about Simon Dumont, but it’s hard to find a more spirited and untiring individual on and off of the mountain. The world of freeskiing better watch out because he is on a mission towards a triumphant return and when he puts his mind to something, there’s no stopping Simon Dumont.
